Default Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa tunic

Time to parse another tunic. Thoughts on this one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/191343193509...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
A GLARING error.

Looks like it has never been worn.
Nice crisp manufacurer's markings.

Good guess. Anyone have the answer? It is the shoulder titles, but what about them?

Right Phil. The CAMERON HIGHLANDERS OF OTTAWA/CANADA titles were not authorized until 1949. The tunic is also missing service chevrons.
Another tunic which does not meet the smell test, despite the fact it came out of the most prominent collection in Western Canada.

He was selling these tunics at the Edmonton show, some nice pieces but also some that were questionable. He will have a high reserve on these, most tunics that came with a beret were $600 to $800 each. The Para and RECCE tunics were in the $1200 to $1500 range.

He had a nice South ALberta Regt officers set, all canvas flashes tunic and a beret with a SAR officers capbadge with gold gilt and black coat of arms, very nice.

If you want something that doesn't pass the smell test try this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/WW2-Canadian-...item23413ff97a

Hi Bruce, It sure doesn't, but the first word in the vendor's listing indicates it is a reproduction. A fantasy reproduction, but it is not represented as authentic.

Saw these yesterday, story sure does not add up. What do you think of the other two Canadian BD's that were listed at the same time?

It appears the vendor pulled the tunic. Perhaps someone told him about this discussion.

Default CHofO Tunic

Yes, I dropped him an e-mail with a quick badge explanation. He apparently checked up on what I sent him (?), agreed with me and pulled the item.

He thought that because the tunic was WWII dated that made everything on it from WWII.

A pretty bold move by the vendor considering some exceptionally knowledgeable and well read eBayer was prepared to drop a fair chunk of change on what was definitely not an original badged WWII tunic.
