CARIBBEAN BADGE
Can any one ID this one. I think it's Jamaican but is a cap or pouch or something else with 4 lugs?

I think it's Jamaica Militia circa 1850. There's a matching example of it in Renfrew's British Colonial badges - although the example is a shoulder plate with the badge in white metal on gilt and a separate crown. The design changes in around 1885. Nice badge.

hi guys
just rehashing this one. ive picked up a simmilar badge. i believe jamaican militia and judging from the gilt i would say pre ww1, but probably late 1800s. the badge has 4 lugs like alan showed in his pic and is large, about 7cm x 8cm. would this be a helmet plate as i cant see it fitting on a hat. would anyone have any information or pics re this badge? cheers bc |
