Default Rhodesian Essential Service and National Service badges

Two new additions to the collection.

First is a WWII Rhodesian Essential Service buttonhole badge in blackened copper.

Second is a Southern Rhodesian National Service pinned badge in darkened copper and stamped the number 1 above and 971 below to the reverse.

Can anyone share more light to the use of the second badge i.e. period worn (WWII or post War)

Regards
Steven
