F of M Police Button
Hello,
I have a colonial police button, with a tiger/lion (somewhat like a BSAP badge) with F of M Police inscribed around the circumference. Does anyone know who were the F of M Police? Many Thanks Jonny |

F of M Police
Yes, Federation of Malaya Police. If you look at my albums you'll see the cap & collars to match.

F of M Police
I believe that originally they were a Colonial force, but with the Japanese invasion in 1942 the force folded. (If it was like Singapore, the Japanese executed Eurpoean officers to leave the force leaderless). Post-war, with the troubles and the British withdrawl from Palastine, a large number of British ex-NCO's were transferred to Malaya from Palastine. These were placed under the command of Sir George Young (I think). He managed to command the F of M Police and hold the post of Commissioner for the City of London Police simultaneously!
