Default Yorkshire ?

Could one of our Yorkies please identify this badge. It was bought in error thinking it was a 19th Hussars collar but as I didn't have any books with me I couldn't check on the date in the centre. It's arrived and the size has me puzzled as it's 43mm high and 28mm wide across the bottom of the A. I've checked Churchill and it's not a collar, neither is it a later badge with the scroll removed.

Yorkshire or maybe a Ghurka badge?

Thanks.

Looks like 19th (Queen Alexandra's Own Royal) Hussars - worn 1909-1922 (K&K 791)

What 1875 relates to I do not know?

1885 on the centre of the 19th Hussars badge Mike, it's much larger too.

I haven't got one to compare it with David, but I checked K&K and the Green Howards Dannenbrog has considerable differences.

It's a Green Howard's badge alright, I have a couple the same size, as does at least one other Yorkie I know of.

The best we were thinking was pouch badge/bands mans badge etc.

I'm waiting for the museum to re-open and I shall be popping up to Richmond to discuss.

Cheers,

Andy

Keith,
its definately supposed to be Green Howards but i have yet to find out exactly what it is. I have asked many Yorkshire collectors and dealers about this badge over the last 30 years without confirmation of where it was worn. Certainly not a headdress badge. The badge has been reproed however.
Keep smiling, Dave
