Post Re: Identification of an Old Comrades Association Badge

Hello everyone,

I saw this badge on e-bay some while ago, and just missed out on buying it, but have been intrigued to what regiment it belongs to ever since.

I'd be most grateful if any member can identify this very nice badge for future reference.

Many thanks,

TheBreaker02

Possibly 3rd Btn "The Pompadours" The Royal Anglian Regiment or it could be pre 1968 and its the 2nd Btn The Essex Regiment?

If the number shown on the badge is 62, the 44th (East Essex) captured the Imperial Eagle of the French 62nd Regiment at the Battle of Salamanca in 1812.

It is still sometimes "on display":

My money's on the Bird Catchers. Well done, the 66th!

I'd like to thank everyone for their replies, I can now confirm that the old comrades association is in fact the 44th Foot, the Essex Regiment.

I already have another Essex Regiment old comrades association lapel badge of a different type, but will keep an eye out for this badge again.

Once again thank you for everyone's suggestions and input.
