Default Possibly allies

Might be worth looking further afield,
Boer war allies in 1st boer war were South Africans this expanded to Australian and Canadian in the 2nd

Hi,
The man sitting, far right, resembles Alexander Godley who commanded the New Zealand troops in WW1.

In 1898 Godley attended Staff College at Camberley but, following the outbreak of the Boer War in 1899, ended his studies early to volunteer for service in Africa. Along with other officers of the Special Service Battalion, he helped to raise irregular mounted regiments. Godley was later adjutant to Colonel Robert Baden-Powell and was present during the Siege of Mafeking.

Cheers,
Tinto

A hi res image of one of the cross belts should answer this one....... the most "in focus"

The busby does not have an oval boss (expected to see one for regulars)..... the sabretache does not display a badge just below the VR (expected to see one for regulars).

The collars appear to be scarlet... along with the busby bags...... the cuffs the same colour as the jacket..... the frogging and lace appear to be silver? The plume is white over white.... the busby cord might be gold but looks very dark? The cross belt has a split lace..... but without a hi res close up its difficult to say if there is any insignia attached to it?

Cracking album Andrew - and nice to see the ORs in the Victorian 'At Ease' position.
They could be Suffolk Yeomanry.
When you get bored with looking at it let me know!
Cheers,
Taff

When I have a few minutes I will have a rummage through my notes and see if I can spot who he was.
