I have looked that up in COXs book and its not the SVC..... the badge I have shown is "SC V".... could be "SG V" with a Kings Crown. I have looked in the South African section (thinking South Cape Vols or something) but I cant see anything like?

Does the V have horizontal hatching?

Hi Griff
I don't have any books handy but I think it's a South African Staff Corps collar badge. I can't remember what the 'V' stands for but its partner has the Afrikaan initials SVK. I'm sure forum member Traist can help more. Cheers, Alex |

I agree. SCV stood for "Staff Corps - Volunteers" and SKV for "Stafkorps - Vrywilligers". These collar badges were worn by Staff Corps officers below the rank of colonel during WWII.

It looks a bit like this one as well .
5th Inniskilling Dragoon Guards . Here the 'V' would appear to be the Roman numeral 5. Last edited by Spr Jock; 06-01-13 at 09:12 PM. Reason: Added a bit |
