Default I have been after one of these for a long time.

I have been after one of these for about six years, everything comes to those who wait. Now I just want the other variations.

City of London Special Constable. I fancy a Victorian City of London Police plate to keep with some medals but I think they are individually numbered?
My man served with the DCLI in the Sudan then joined the City of London police in time for the 'Jack the Ripper' events, but I think only one of the murders fell in 'City of London' jurisdiction?

Weird old place the 'City of London'.

wonderful sight.

How are the individual numbers fixed to the plate? can they be removed/swapped around?

Mike,

Not very easily. The numbers (and letters) have small blades to the reverse. If you remove them from the plate, they invariably, snap off. Sometimes you may be lucky and get away with it but not often. The brass (or later anodised) numbers and letters are all but impossible to get hold of in any event.

Dave.

Yes, I've always thought the City of London plate a good looking item - certainly more impressive than the modern day chromed metal plates worn by other forces.

I recently managed to get my own SC plate. I was amazed to win the auction.
