Default Queens Royal Irish Hussars - officers embroiderd badges.

I am looking for any information on the periods of wear of the two different QRIH officers embroidered badges shown below (sorry image is a little blurred).

I believe that the one on the left is an earlier pattern while the cypher was a later pattern worn until amalgamation.

Can anyone verify where worn, I believe the no 1 dress cap.

thanks for any help.

John

Hi John

Reference the two different QRIH officers embroidered badges shown above

I Can confirm that the one on the left was worn on the red service cap , with the cypher pattern worn on the Green beret

Hi John

In Linekar & Dine, the first badge shown can be seen on the SD Scarlet Cap in fig 24.2 QRIH page 91 (dated BAOR c1986)

Have been thinking about your very helpful answer. Were metal cap badges worn by officers of the regiment and in what dress? Would it have been in the no 2 , service dress cap?

I have seen a few types silver & gilt with the harp portion mounted with bent over pins, a type with the Harp riveted on both with long loops E & W.

John,
Ref the one on the left. I acquired one during the late 70's 'from Lisburn' (can't remember if was from a military tailor or via the RQMS. I can recall seeing it being worn though. I never saw the other one.
One on the right looks nice - have a spare?.........
