My Grandfather was the Farrier in Third Troop, C Squadron, 3rd Dragoon Guards........... he probably shod this horse.

Further to my earlier comment, now found a picture of a real 3rd Dragoon Guard horse, with a drummer up, showing, (only from the side unfortunately), probably the same badge as in Keith's opening post.

So the seller got it right, with a bit of artistic licence.
