Michael - am I correct in guessing it has rectangular braze holes behind then scroll and Sphinx? The Sphinx and castle look identical to an erased scroll Essex I have. I’d guess some further die ‘hobbing’ has gone on to produce your little gem.
Luke, I'll post images as soon as I take delivery of it. Would be very interested to hear your thoughts.

I have seen other Essex Regt badges where you can see the scrolls have been converted.

Did it arrive Michael? Been dying to see it close up.

Cheers,

With apologies to all for my absence and lack of forum postings, the move back to Sydney has absorbed all our spare time recently - however corner now turned, end of tunnel light now being seen etc. and now getting some time to catch up on things (which are also far more interesting than emptying another packing box too!)

Photos of front and rear of my example of the badge. Luke like you I am thinking a trial TF pattern.

Thumbs up

Hi Michael

Great to see, what a great badge, but as you know not my usual fodder.

Well done mate and welcome back Down Under.

Regards

Phil.

Marvellous and I'm not drooling nor greenish with envy.

Having not arrived at any other conclusion, I concur, possibly a trial pattern for territorials or perhaps a trial cadet version, although I doubt that suggestion, but as is oft said, never say never.

Regards.

Brian
