For ID Please
What appears to be a silver watch fob, but inscribed to whom?
Any assistance very much appreciated, thank you. 76923FCC-436B-481A-85FD-BB0EEAB5C84E.jpg E856762F-32FC-4052-8CFC-004FC5250BC2.jpg |

Pte CCE Jones of "C" Company 1st (Cinque Ports Battalion) Kent Volunteer Regiment?
"Same" fob (plus a Hythe 1912 one, there is a Brockhill Park near Hythe) to Pte WJ Todd appears here and on other interwrb sites: https://www.carters.com.au/index.cfm...ob-medallions/ Last edited by leigh kitchen; 06-04-20 at 07:35 PM. |

Thanks Leigh.
I don’t have a clearer pic, but the owner now tells me the inscription is ‘O G B Jones’. Any theories on ‘KVR’? I think the item might be Kent-related. Thank you. |

Now that makes perfect sense. Hadn’t thought of that. Thank you.

The ‘Brockhill Cup’ would presumably be a shooting competition?

Not necessarily, could be for any sporting event, Drill, shooting, First Aid etc etc.

Would anyone have a pre-1916 example KVR cap badge they’d be happy to share?

It's the General Service "fighting dogs" I think.

This is the one you usually see. Much reproduced as is this one but you get the idea.

Ah yes, that rings bells for numerous sightings of fakes.
So KVF badge continued in use with KVR? There's a photo on GWF I think of KVR wearing the royal arms badge. |

Excuse my shameful ignorance... so the Kent Fencibles were the same unit as the Kent Volunteer Regiment. Is that right?

My fighting dogs suggestion should've been a "maybe" - post no. 8 here was what I was thinking of:
