White cap cover RA

Hello
I remember when I was attached to an RA unit many moons ago, and there was a flap on because a WO?? I think with a white cap cover turned up, I was leaving camp on his arrival. and I didn't really, ask when I got back.
I have no idea why this has popped in my head!
Does anyone know the significance of this chap?
Was he a WO or an Officer please?

Chris, I imagine he would have been a Sergeant Major Instructor in Gunnery from the Royal School of Artillery, a Warrant Officer.

I think there were restrictions on when the white cover could be worn.

This was certainly the case at the School of Artilery, Larkhill in the Autumn of 1963. Students on RA Young Officers' course there regarded the SMIG and AIGs with the greatest respect.

Everyone on any course at Larkhill treated them with the greatest respect .......... or else !
