KC General Service Buttons
I've started an album of different manufacturers for this fairly common button, but obviously there are going to be a lot more, so what am I missing? Rob.

I've found a couple of General Service button oddities.
The first is a 13mm KC cap button without the lion on the crown The second, a 17mm button has a very flat crown, could this be late Victorian? |

Cast locally made button
The left hand button shown in the pictures below is quite heavy and appears to be a locally made cast copy of a "W.H.HASELER BIRMINGHAM" 24mm button.
It shows a certain amount of shrinkage as you would expect, but I'm not sure of the purpose of the 4 indentations on the back? Rob. |

Any chance of the cast button being a 'bazaar make' or one cast in the many Far Easter/African base workshops due to shortage of issues? Spent shell cases came very useful! It's quite a well known practice with badges?
The four indents could be from the mould. Just an idea. Rgds, button_guru ---------------------------------------- Buttons aren't just a hobby.................. |

black general service button WWII
Shown is a black economy WWII general service button, small size.
It is the same shank as the green general service buttons and black Civil Defense buttons. This is the first one I have ever seen. Who used this button? |

Is it black plastic or black painted?

It is now scratched ...
It seems a very hard lacquer. It is grayish underneath. I am going to find a CD button and give it the same treatment. |
