Default Howe Battalion Cap Badge

Hi All,

I've just picked this up and was looking for some opinions on it.

I looked at Arnhem Jim's site and think it's ticking the right boxes but I'd appreciate some other opinions.

Thanks a lot,

Michael

I should send it back. Not an original.

Thanks Luke,

What are the clues so I know for the next time? I was looking at the shape of the letter O but that obviously wasn't enough.

Hello Michael

I would agree with Luke in saying that it is a copy. It is close to the Gaunt design but it is the finer detail that makes it stand out. I have attached a picture of what I believe is a good one for comparison. The O may be a similar shape but on the original the lettering is thicker and more square. The 2 ribbed bands above and below the gems/diamonds is another area where the fine detail stands out. If you look at the ribbed band below the gems on the copy it is made up of approx 35 separate small segments whereas on the genuine badge it is made up of approx 40.

Thanks very much for the help, I see what you mean. I'll keep looking for a real one.

Thanks again,
