Hello, among a couple of Italian navy rank badges, I also picked up what I think is a regimental collar tab but I’ve not been able to ID it’s origin. Can anyone please help?

I think it is an unusual shape but think it is French.

The nearest I can find is from Army Badges and Insignia of World War 2, Book 2, by G. Rosignoli.
France. Corporals' and Privates' Collar Patches. Metropolitan Troops. Armoured Cars [W O walking out, F field uniforms]. However, as you can see these are not as long as shown in the photo in the first post being "an average of 9 cm or 8 cm in width and 8 cm in height." David. |

Looks like the shape may have depended on the manufacturer ?

I think they depend on the shape of the collar (point). And thus on the type of jacket/greatcoat, etc.

Thanks all. French was one of my suspicions but as said, the shape threw me off hence the question here.
Thanks again, all. |
