Default Four-pointed Star

Hi All,
Anyone know this badge, white metal, with lugs?
Possibly not military. Thanks, John

Hi John,
I have one of those as well. I believe it has something to do with SJAB, possibly for the Cadets units, but cannot give 100% confirmation

Thanks, Steven, a good suggestion.
Although most SJAB badges incorporate the Maltese Cross.
Regards, John

Yes that's correct John, but I think there are some badges that don't. I need to try and find out what this one is for, but it may indicate service time within the cadets. I think there is a cloth version as well.

Found this online :
Quote:
Officer Cadet (OCT)s wear their ranks on their epaulettes. Their ranks are distinguished by a white stripe. upon completion of the Officer Training Course, Grade 6 officers put on a star, sometimes called as a 'pip', on each shoulder.
And an auction lot showing one of these 'stars' .

Hi John.
It is a SJAB cadets service star (early ones in metal and later ones were embroidered in white on a light grey circle)

Service stripes and stars

1st year: One black-and-white stripe worn horizontally with point to front 38mm inches from the bottom of left sleeve.

2nd year: Two black-and-white stripe, the second above and touching the first.

3rd year: One service star, with center of star 38mm (1 ½ inches) from the bottom of left sleeve.

4th year: One service star and one black-and-white stripe directly above the service star.

5th year: Two service star, one directly above the other.

6th year: Two service star and one black-and-white strip directly above the service star.

7th year: Three service star.
