Default Unidentified button SWM - HMC South-African?

I have been looking for the identity of this button for years.
Does anyone recognise it?

Hi btns,
Only guessing, could HMC be Her/His Majesty's Customs?
Cheers, Tinto

Maybe something like South West Midlands Her/His Majesty's Constabulary?
Cheers,

Hi,
Thank you for your replies.
I think it is a British colonial period button. Both Customs and Constabulary are an option.
regards,

With my limited knowledge of buttons I would lean towards Police. Customs buttons I've handled generally seem to be WM/chrome but customs buttons have been brass.
Cheers,
Alex

I can assure you that the button is not police related. HM Inspectorate of Constabulary wore a silver/plated button consisting of a Crown within a wreath. That applies also to HM Inspectorate of Colonial/Overseas Police Forces during the period that they existed and wore uniform.

I think it is a nurses uniform badge from the South West Middlesex Hospital Management Committee.
