Bob,
You may well be on to something here with Tudor Crown and cypher but I must admit from a stylistic point of view I find the St Edward’s Crown more appealing than the Tudor one. |

If they do return to the "Kings" Crown, would it make some old Police Insignia current again and not "obsolete" as they are often termed when sold?

I know we've focused on the possible changes to the insignia - but will any of the Regiments, Corps etc get a change of title as well? I was thinking of Queen's Gurkha Engineers, Queen's Own Logisitics Corps etc - will they retain the existing title out of respect to the monarch that conferred the title or will it change to reflect the new monarch?

Could this be a sign of things to come on the new Cypher as reported in the online news recently?

A year or so back I was told by a serving RM C/Sgt that designs for RM badges under the new King had already been approved that far back.
Just as interesting perhaps, will all units now be presented with new Kings colours. |

Interesting both in the arrangement of the letters and Latin numbers; breaks the linear alignment that we have seen for the last 100 years. Edward VII in the early 1900s seems to be the last sovereign to have a similar centred arrangement. Also the use of the Scottish crown which on first glance is similar to the St Edwards crown. Some very slight change to the Royal Regiment of Scotland Regiment crown I assume and significant changes to many other military badges. A veritable bonanza for the forum!

It’s a Kings Crown for the cypher except in Scotland where it’s a Queens Crown?

Yes, I wondered that, and not something I had ever realised before, but presume it’s because Scotland has its own Crown:

I agree the Tudor Crown is unappealing and the cypher as a whole is meh at best. St. Edwards is the way to go.

I like the new cypher and Tudor crown. A very tasteful arrangement in my opinion.
