Default Bedfordshire Yeomanry White Metal

Can anybody offer a view on the possible Beds Yeomanry badge? It’s all white metal dir struck with longish lugs and real signs of age. The lug colour is as you often find on Victorian badges. I think the lugs are too long for a collar I think.

The unpierced legs as the most obvious.

Default Bedfordshire Yeomanry

As Alan says the un-voided legs. Whilst not an absolute rule they are nonetheless a very good indication in 95% of cases. There are exceptions both ways.

There are many indicators, the shape of the wings online, the fatter right wing edge, the angular tail end shape, the silly tiny coronet. On some, like yours, the voiding cuts off the lower beak.

There are of course many more differences but these are the ones which stand out quickest and easiest to my eye.

Add to all that your badge has modern footed loops.

Finally to my knowledge the Bedfordshire Yeomanry never wore an other ranks WM badge.

Similarly the other ranks BM badge is absolute fantasy, albeit there was a two-tone officers badge in SP and gilt.

Rogues gallery below…

Thanks for all of this the lugs are very interesting on mine the image looks like the have the typical giveaway modern feet but actually they don’t. On inspection they are as all good lugs just end abruptly braised. But thanks again for the info.

I presume this is the exact badge:

In which case I can very clearly see the loops feet under the chemical attack and in the op.

I’m not sure but the lugs don’t have what I would call feet. But anyway it’s a dud so will go west to dudsville.

Thanks for the update.
