Perfectly simple question, was the sale subsequently cancelled, annulled, rescinded?
Perhaps just for absolute clarity, can you confirm exactly why the lot was spurious? Did you actually attend and handle the lot before the sale and if so, what was it in particular that caused concern? Was the seller of the badge in the original post also the vender of this lot? If not, what, if any is the connection? Quote:

It would not be the first time that DNW has made a mistake if that's what it was. If they were notified that part or all of the paperwork was fake then it would not be the first time that they have ignored something like that.
I've had some good results with DNW after talking to them about some items but I was also ignored on one occasion and I was told the seller was believed over me. It's why people should research or reach out to honest people who know and are willing to help others. |

I'm not sure what arboriculture has to do with this thread, but, with particular regard to sound, one hears a great many things, notwithstanding, I think it is unwise to speak from hearsay.

Totally off subject, but I've always wondered about the tree falling and nobody there does it make a sound. Actually you have to define what sound is to answer that. Sound is vibrations created that are picked up by the ear and turned into what we hear. So if the tree fell, it does create the vibrations even if no one is there. Therefore, is sound making the vibrations or the ear picking up the vibrations?
An equally puzzling question is - what is time? And now back to your regularly scheduled program. Terry |

So basically 500-odd quid for a newspaper clipping?

The box appears to be spurious as the name is strangely worded Mr Edward H Berg. Why not Mr E.H. Berg?
I have seen the scratchy black ink and spidery handwriting on other faked items on Ebay from the same dealer over the years, always the same childlike hand writing and the same black ink. It is also telling that there is no photograph of the reverse of the box, which would normally have the appropriate regimental record office details printed on it. Edward Horace Berg married in Boston in the June Quarter of 1945. It seems strange that someone would send him a newspaper cutting of the event a year later in 1946 without an accompanying note. There was a recent thread regarding this particular seller in Fairs, Sales, Seller's and Auctions section, he appears to have used a number of identities.

Indeed - and that thread is here: https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=76163
Which links this account to the now convicted faker Badgeman2005 (discussed here)
