Default Bronze Liver Bird with lugs

I am pretty certain that this die cast bronze Liver Bird with lugs north and south is not military and may be a police item but can anyone positively identify it please.

Thanks

Hi Peter,
I had a W/M version of this badge (but I gave it to a LFC fan me being a nice Blue).
I am sure it is a Tram workers badge, not the later small chrome version the 5th Bn also wore? I had a link somewhere but cannot find it at the moment.
Will have another look later
Regards
Paul

Thanks Paul,

Nothing quite like it ( as far as I can see ) on the Liverpool Police badge site:

http://liverpoolcitypolice.co.uk/#/i...ery/4552548389

Tram workers a possibility but the bronze seems a bit strange for them, perhaps for a ticket inspector ?

Peter

Peter,

It is a badge which was worn by Sergeants in the Liverpool Parks Police above their chevrons. They were worn in pairs with the bird facing inwards. Post 1948 they were "chromed" and continued to be worn. They were also worn by various Corporation staff either on the collar or lapels depending on the style of uniform worn. This included tramway staff. White metal versions were worn by the City Police.

Dave.

Hi Peter,
I found the website www.birches.plus.com which has an image of the badge in B/W being worn by a Liverpool City Tram worker on his epaullette.
If you navigate to uniforms and then to H-N scroll down to Liverpool City Trams click on it, scroll down and you will find some images and you will see the guy with a truncheon in his hand.
Cannot tell if it is W/M or indeed Brass.
Regards
Paul
