Helmet Plate construction
Hi All,
After a few years of collecting badges, I have now aquired a few helmet plates. I am looking for information on their construction/materials used..I have noted that construction varies a lot from very thin brass to very sturdy well made pieces. Are there any threads on the forum or books that have information on them ? Cheers in advance, Mark |

Mark,
Sorry you havent had a reply, but its a massive question. Helmet Plates could be Infantry, Cavalry, Arms & Services, they could be Georgian, Victorian or Edwardian, they could be Officers or other ranks, they could be British or Commonwealth. Do you get what I mean. Each combination of all of the above could be constructed in different ways and of different materials and of quality from poor to superb. I think the best option for you is to post photos, front and back of what you have got and ask for comments on those as a starting point. regards
