Default Help Please?

My grandfather, WWi - Mum doesn't know which regiment, and this is the best (only) photo I could find - must be before he went off to France (picture shows all his fingers).

Could anyone help?

Thank you.

The badge in post no. 1 appears to be the later, flagless version of the Northamptonshire Regiment's badge.
