Default Cloth ‘A’ Badges

I have these two cloth badges with ‘A’ in gold and another silver wire on a brown background. Anyone have an idea what they might be.

Kind regards, Malcolm.

May not be the same badge, but I know ambulance sections of the VTC, wore such a badge (CLNG for certain):

CLNG VTC A.jpg

I can't remember now what colours the VTC 'A' badge was, and I seem to recall the it possibly being more of an oval shape than circular.

Thanks Leigh and JT.

Opinions greatly appreciated. I have no idea, but the VTC picture seems to look a good possibility - or is that just wishful thinking!

Kind regards, Malcolm

I'll see if I can find a description on the VTC badge colour/s, which may help to confirm or dispel.

British Army proficiency badges by Denis Edwards and David Langley (1st edition) shows the VTC badge as 43A, page 57, 'A' on red oval, Ambulance Section, worn only until Sept 1915.

A Google search "US 3rd Army badge gold on brown" and silver on brown produces images of many different colour combinations - but not gold or silver on brown.....
