How are you Jerry? So how did the other fair turn out? And did you go to Malvern, am hearing from some people I know that went and they had a good day out! Would love to have gone but health issues! You will have to P.M. me details about this badge if you don’t mind? All the best billy “p.s.” I was Royal Air Force! and you just so happened to be an Army Royal Engineer! so that badge wouldn’t have suited you, wrong colour old chap! |

Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force (HKAAF) - Formed in 1949.
HKAAF granted the title of "Royal" by Queen Elizabeth II in 1970. Note :From Wiki - Quote:
On 31st March 1993 , the squadron standard of RHKAAF was laid up at the St.John's Cathedral. On 1st April , the GFS (Government Flying Service) commenced operation immediately after the disbandment of its predecessor , RHKAAF. .

RHKAAF Silver Badge
Hello Gents,
I was serving in HK with the RAFP but attached to a army unit in Kowloon I was there in the audience at the disbandment ceremony and very impressive it was. On several visits to Kai Tak I acquired a HK Air Cadet officer badge which if you don’t know is the same as a RAF badge but with a propeller instead of a crown. I also acquired two RHKAAF badges one the same as Billy’s silver item the other the same metal pattern but colourfully enamelled. I don’t know if it was a later/earlier issue or a SNCO badge or which badge came first. Any idea? Cheers Richard |
