Airborne badges for opinion
Hi Guys,I'm looking for opinions on several badges i have been given from a friend in the US.The first is a Parachute reg arc, looks OK but would like to know when it would have first been issued. The second is pair Para reg beret wings. These are a bit strange as they have a very flat matt grey finish i have not seen before. There is some wear to the front which shows they are brass underneath. The third is a Pegasus patch.I have seen this variation before that has a thin black cotton back with the design stitched through and am not sure if it would have been issued during or post war.
Any comments would be appreciated.Thanks,Steve. |

Well, not being up on Airborne, which I do not collect, I might take a stab at this since no one else has yet.
For what it is worth, in my opinion nothing shown is genuine ww2 issue and are either much later issue or fake altogether. CB

The matt grey Parachute Regiment cap badge is a WW2 voided crown example with what is known as a silverwash coating which has been rubbed through wear exposing the brass underneath.
There are old posts on this forum referring to this thin silverwash coating. Jack. |

The cap badge is original, the other two are not.

Just from the photographs, I quite like the beret badge despite the oxidised condition, a bit of TLC is required.
