I cannot answer your question, but would love to see a picture as that is definitely in my arena of collecting.

Not sure about historically but definitely recently.

"In 2013, roles currently undertaken by FANY members are divided into four areas: resilience/ emergency response which incorporates the assistance given in times of crisis or for major planned events to organisations such as the Police, the City of London Corporation, London Coroners and the Cabinet Office; military support to the Ministry of Defence and 11 Signal Brigade;"

https://www.steppingforwardlondon.or...orps-prvc.html

FANY website mentions 71(City of London) Yeomanry Signals Regiment , which forms part of 11 Signal Brigade.

Whilst the FANY are all unpaid volunteers they are looked after by the Signal Brigade for admin and logistic support. It's an odd arrangement. They used to be supported by 2 NC Brigade until the Brigade's disbandment in 2012 so your shirt post dates that. DPM went out of use in 2012-13 to be replaced by MTP.

When I was part of 2(NC) Signal Brigade (up to 2007) we had reps from FANY join us on exercise on occasion. Presumably same with XI Bde too.

As Alan has mentioned though, if the shirt is badged XI Bde the timing does look problematic given the date of withdrawal of DPM.

Any chance of an image of the shirt?

Maybe a dumb question/suggestion but as they are unpaid volunteers would they have immediately bought new MTP or would there have been any leeway given ?

Mike

That's the point of them being in 11 Sig Bde - they don't buy the uniform but get it issued by the Brigade QM's.

2 Sig Bde started issuing MTP to those troops on Op Olympics in 2012 but lots of regiments had to wait until the following year before there was enough MTP in the system for the remainder of the TA.
