Liverpool Pals
I picked up a medium sized lot of badges and buttons off of ebay the other day. The main reason for my interest was this badge. As it was on a card and the back wasn't visible I took a chance on it. N/S lugged should be good but was a bit surprised to fine it flat backed. I've never seen one of these before in the flesh so am wondering how I did... Jim

Hi Jim,
Your badge looks good to me. I have one like it and have been happy with it. Others might like to comment. Cheers, Tinto |

Hi Jim,
I think you did ok. I believe that there are a number of these badges that were produced after the sterling silver ones that were produced in GM, they are flat backed and indeed lugged N-S. I have one of each and when back home I will post my GM one which from memory is just like yours. There are a number of more learned members like KLR (Julian) on here that specialise in this Pals Battalion and they will no doubt be quick to provide confirmation. In my humble opinion a nice pick up, cheers Dean. |

Thanks for the responses so far.... I'm gaining confidence by the minute. One other thing I didn't mention that the badge was on an old piece of card stock with several other items but this badge was named to a Fred Owen Liverpool. That might mean something to the Liverpool collectors... Jim

War Office - Royal Army Clothing Department Pattern 8520/1915, Other Rank's cap badge.
Superseded by RACD Pattern 9483/1917. There are quite a lot of Frederick Owens in the Liverpool Regiment on the MIC. There is also a list of Pals KIA in Graham Maddocks's book, I'll have a trawl through later when I'm back from work. But it's nice to have a badge with provenance. What were the other items ? To satisfy KLR's curiosity.... I'm not much on buttons so if anyone can identify them that would be great... Jim
