Default Can anyone identify this Birmingham Maker: GA &S

I have a few pieces (sweetheart and lapel pins) with the makers' mark GA &S.

If I read the hallmarks correctly, they are Birmingham made, and dated 1917. I have also seen similar marks on on-line listings for CEF sweetheart pins, so the date is certainly compatible for that. I cannot, however, find GA &S (or CA &S) in any list of manufacturers of silver, in Birmingham or elsewhere (assuming the possibility of temporary residence in Birmingham during the war).

I would appreciate any assistance or leads.

Regimentalrogue

G. A& S pertains to G Allen and Son, who listed their name as "medallists". They registered with the Birmingham Assay office on 11th May 1916, and their address was 86 Vyse Street, Birmingham.

The mark is confirmed as 1917.

Regards, Neil
