Mary Borden which cap badge?

Hi folks,

Just come across this image of Mary Borden wearing a badge. She was an Anglo-American novelist and poet whose work drew on her experiences as a nurse during the First World War. She also set up the Hadfield-Spears Ambulance Unit during the Second World War.

Can anyone make the badge out? The image is dated 1930s.

The crown seems foreign.

I don't know what the badge is but there are other photos of her as an older woman in uniform during WWII wearing it on her cap.
