Note: regardless of the fact these are sand cast look how neatly the lugs are attached to the reverse.

JJ,
I appreciate your concerns here! They are mine also!
It would indeed be sad to see these appearing far more often ,in future.
Since the STM debacle, I have found it difficlt to show pics, especially of the backs, not wanting to make it too easy to copy some special features. (especially for very rare items like that above. )I appologise to others for this reticence, but am sure it will pass, in time. It's just the way it is , at the moment!
I will keep my comments to words only on other's already pictured items, etc, for a little while, until I can get my head around it.
Identifying origional period cast badges, especially, is a field that requires a great deal of study & handling of origional items, to get the right feel for them.

Cheers !
Steve (dragonz18)

Theres no need to feel bad about not showing the reverse of your badges because I feel exactly the same way as you about it! The majority of LRDG badges in silver are on the most part unique one off items.

I have tried to do my bit for the hobby by buying as many of these WW2 titles as I can but I still know of one dealer who has a massive box full for 50p each. If I was rich I`d buy the lot get a bloody great big hammer and bash the lot up!....with no disrepect to the artillery units of course

I dont want to speculate because as I said earlier I dont have the valuable experience but I would not buy that badge because of the sloppy solder

JJ,
it would appeal to me to get a set of Artillery WW2 cast, like those shown. Especially at a price similar to that !
PM me ,if you like & we might work something out ??
Cheers ! & thanks for the support !
Steve

PS: now that's more like it, on the titles !
PPS: Buy....Yes ! Destroy ...... Never !!!!!!

The dealer I mentioned is UK based and not a pro as such. If anyone here lives in Nottinghamshire and are not particulary busy on Thursday 5th-6th June I could give you the exact location of the dealers pitch.

.........dont get me started on those people melting down pips.

Guys,

I have one of these in my collection which I got off a NZLRDG veteren. He said he got it straight from one of the guys who served there. I will post pictures tonight. It is typical Egyptian cast badge with the squarish middle east copper lugs.
