Both give me no cause for concern, I’d say you’ve got a good original cap badge and matching shoulder titles

Alan, hi
Sorry to show my lack of knowledge, but is there any variation on this badge in terms of the "angle" that the small, middle owl is positioned?

Yours looks pretty well upright but on other photos I've seen which claim to be of genuine pieces, (the Doyle and Foster book for instance) the small, middle owl seems to lean to the left a lot more?

Blimey Andrew, there's some really interesting stuff in this thread - thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction!

(PS: and I now know what a "leaning budgie" is !!!)

I cannot do much regarding the lack of focus, but this is some improvement on your original photographs.

No, they're fine....when you see a long legged "budgie" you'll immediately see the difference !

I've got what appears to be a cast brass version - with an "upright budgie", short-legged-owls and decent shield spots (and ram horns which don't venture beyond the fleece - many thanks Alan O, what a star!)
But I then saw an identical badge on e-bay with the dreaded " I believe this to be a genuine badge" sales pitch...
Subsequent investigation via Forum experts confirmed that the e-bay trader in question is in fact, a charlatan (this bit's been cleaned up so the moderators don't melt down). In fact, he is a l***g b*****d of a charlatan....
So I now know that the Leeds Pals badge that I gave a 50/50 chance of being legitimate is a dud, no better than a Mann's bottle top in fact...
So I'm back in the hunt for a good 'un.
Oh, the joys of badge collecting !!!!!!
