SAS wings
Gents I’m new to this forum but was interested in the comments on SAS sabre wings .
I recently acquired a large selection of Sabre wings for a former Trooper and was assured all were 100% authentic . I’m looking to have these authenticated , could you advise on who would be best to contact to has these looked at . One set is believed to have belonged to Pat Riley ( original ) |

Collection
Afternoon mate,
Welcome. Im rarely on here these days so dont take offence if you reply and are not answered in due course. My opinion for what it worth, is that none are original. Happy to be proven wrong. Some have the thick FAKE rope type thread. If any, id say the last one is a good possible The wire embroidered looks like a known fake (i own one too). I hope im wrong. Happy collecting Jon |

I agree with Jon - my own personal opinion (not wishing to cause offence) is I would not have any of them in my collection. I am becoming increasingly sceptical and prefer to save more money to be selective and buy attributed items with full history. If you are going to spend good money then there is no substitute for research. Acknowledging no one, and no forum, has all the answers. The mantra during my apprenticeship was 'if in doubt leave it out' - ultimately you have to satisfy your own doubts.
Sorry for the negativity Mike |
