This little button with text "Canadian Beavers" was once attributed on e-bay to the pre 1941 "Canadian Women's Volunteer Reserve Corps"
I cannot read its backmark, but the one in the e-bay auction had "W Scully Ltd, Montreal". It is 15 mm and white metal. I found it in Smylie as C-26, (page 21). He gives 1941-1945. Other sources state that this organisation merged into the CWAC in 1941. Does anyone know more about its brief history? Last edited by btns; 18-11-16 at 10:48 PM. Hi btns, the second reference is the correct story. The CWVRC, CWSR, WVRC, etc etc were not authorized military organizations;rather they were para-military. Their existence pressured the Cdn government to create the CWAC and volunteers from these other women's groups were taken on strength. Some of them were highly organized and had uniforms and insignia made, while others were loosely organized and had minimal badging, for example homemade armbands.
