We met someone as Bosleys decades ago who had just got engaged. His fiancee was with the guy - instead of an engagement ring she had bought him an example of this pattern.

A rare and original badge.

This example has a replacement, different to normal, brooch attachment. Also an interesting story as to how it was purchased from the Cairo manufacturer by the original owner.

Certainly the rarest of all the Long Range Patrol - Desert Group badges.

Would this be a world record for a cap badge ? Does anyone know what the most money ever achieved at auction is for a cap badge and what was it?

Yes this badge was sold recently here in New Zealand, for around $7000 NZd from memory, it has its own thread in the NZ section of this forum.
I have the black tankers beret that belonged to the same officer who supposedly privately purchased the badge.
