It's a new metal type badge, when I was at 9 Supply Regt, 98-2000,only the WO2's wore them in the No2 dress hat and beret.
I have no idea who whether all ranks wear them now? Chris |

I believe that the new metal type with coloured parts was the second pattern sometimes called the “10th Anniversary” badge and was issued to replace the all anodised first pattern. However, it had not been approved by the Army Dress Committee and was subsequently withdrawn as it apparently ‘looked too much like an officers badge’. The third (current) pattern is in two colour new metal.

First pattern in anodised by TKS
Third (current) pattern in new metal by London Badge & Button Co Ltd And an oddity: Anodised by TKS but with painted parts to resemble the unapproved and withdrawn second pattern. Tim

The metal WO2's badge I refer to was bought in the PRI, so late 90"s early 00's , there were also collar badges, I remember a new chap fresh from training wearing some on his number 2 dress, as he was issued them in training, he was told to remove them as they were for WO2's only, I have one of these cap badges and collars, as I wore them on Number one (blues) dress when I got married in 99 (looked better than staybrights).
I'll dig them out. Very interesting about the tenth anniversary set Tim, I was unaware of these. Cheers Chris |

Tim, is your 10th anniversary badge on a slider, or long officer lugs

Am I correct then in thinking the officers wear a colored version of the badge that looks like the one withdrawn? If so, how do you tell an officers badge from the withdrawn one?
Thanks, Terry |

There is also a first pattern RLC officers cap badge in new metal with a red enamel centre and very long (16mm) lugs. Maker marked TKS worn in the early 1990s until replaced by the one in post 5.
