If it is Keith who has purchased these wings, he usually knows his stuff. Is there any known Provence for these or the para version?

Whatever, 5k is well outside my budget.
the reproduction wings are disparate to the original examples. the difference is obvious when placed side by side.

This thread particularly post #15 and pictures courtesy of pontecagnano may be of assistance.

To my eyes the wings sold match Keith’s example rather than the Dutch copies.

Top and middle wings of the first pic in my post are the Dutch repros.

On the zoomed in landscape pic the left and middle are the bad ones.

The question is how many printed samples were made?

My name is Ian.
I am happy with the badge I got. I paid well over what I was hoping to pay for this printed SAS wing but my under-bidder may still be disappointed.

As I have said before. I used to have one of these badges in my original collection in the 1970's and if truth be told the one already shown in in this forum seems particularly exact to the one I used to own with the rubbed right upper edge.

The rarest of badges have a brief sparkle in the records for the purchased value. Like a few watchers of this forum we can bathe in this gamble but wary that we can be victims of derision or the sting of the con.

I have heard a proto type existed but have not seen supporting documentation. To me what strikes as odd is that a parachute qualification badge is printed as it is quite an honour to wear them and you would expect a quality made award badge..may be that’s why it was not introduced..? Personally I am less interested in badges that have never been worn.

Cheerio,
JB

https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=61022

I now saw Postwarden’s thread again on the subject which is great information

Funny talking about proto type as these would be proto type ordnance wings of course there are also pro type Egyptian made the first ones in enamel.

Ordnance wings have never been popular in ww2 period pictures you mostly see private purchase SAS wings

Cheers
JB

Nope, it is as I’ve said. Compare the backgrounds and it probably becomes a little clearer as they are so similar.
