Hi, probably a dumb question but I've got an all brass struck version of what was described as a sergeants arm badge. What is it? It has been relugged at sometime.

Hi their fearnaught,a very nice badge. As I'm sure you are aware this style of badge is referred to as a cap badge by Kipling and King in both bronze and bi metal. But Bosley's list it as an arm badge. Don't forget not all variations of British military badges have been published, only recently I saw a 1914 bronze arm badge to the East Riding Yeo. Cheers Sean.

Notice the different spelling of Westmorland/WestmorEland between the O/R`s and the Sergeants badge. Wonder if this would give an indication of date? I can remember someone telling me there is a small museum to the Yeo. somewhere in what used to be westmorland, i believe the Sergeants badge is in fact an arm badge.

The museum in Carlisle is the Border Regiment, the one to the West.& Cumb. Yeo is near Penrith, Cumbria. There is apparently a book on the Yeomanry......

Any thoughts on the above? looks alot better than the fake far right in post 1. Better crown and gap between leaves and crown + crimpline, but the more I compare to the pictures I have posted the more I am 'feeling' it is not right. Seller has a couple of other badges that look OK. Cheers, Paul.

Very much the same as the one I have and has all the right features. The only difference is the darker colour and it looks pristine. Possibly one that was unused?

The W&CY Museum is at Dalemain (House) a Mansion not far from Penrith. A google should supply the info on timings and how to get there.

The better By far... book in HB was priced at £26.95 when new (2001) and should command at least double that if you can find one.

Resurrecting this old thread, would anyone else own or have seen of a ORs Westmorland and Cumberland Yeomanry in bronzed finish?

The badge is referred to in KK as being ‘also in bronze’ but prior to this one I got from Canada recently I’d never seen another and nor has Keith Hook.

My main concern is it could be a DIY bronzing job to fill a perceived gap but having said that the finish looks right.
