Default Lakenheath &Wangford Volunteers Button?

Hello Members
I have a portrait miniature of a British Volunteer soldier, the letters on his buttons and shako ,are LWV ,in script.
I have Identified at this stage the unit to be Lakenheath &Wangford Volunteers infantry ,around 1800-1806.Wangford is not in the Wilson's army chart after 1806,(they are in the earlier chart 1800-1806)
I would be interested to know if I have the right unit for the button, and miniature?

Regards Gorgio.

well i would say your button and the screen shot of the L&WV button are not the same you don't have the & and the L on yours goes all the way across the underneath of the centre and final letter. hard to know if your button ties in with the miniature as the L on that is only to the W it might be the artist hasn't copied it perfectly (hes done a good job getting any letters on the painting)

Hi Lazio
Many thanks for your reply and comments.
Sorry for a very late reply.

As you say we do not know how accurate the artist was in getting the correct script of the button onto the miniature,in my opinion so far it seems to be very close to the buttons linked to Lakenheath&Wangford Volunteers Infantry.

I am still looking for any other information on the uniform ,and also on the lion head buckle belt which may be a clue ,of some sort.

To all members any other info would be appreciated.

Regards Gorgio
