I have only ever encountered the flat topped plum die in BB finish. However, it very clearly was worn by DHY, see BROOKIES excellent RPC: https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ctureid=180499
To date I’ve not seen a named or readily identifiable picture showing another regiment wearing those distinct plumes, but, as I said that doesn’t preclude its wear by another necessarily. Only after I sold you the flat topped plume type did I come into possession of the 1916 tenders which show beyond any doubt both DHY and RWY wore the same pattern badge. Ergo if one of the former is wearing it then technically the other could, especially as it’s a wartime photo. But, proof above in the RPC it was worn by DHY and it certainly looks very dark, however if you are unhappy I’ll gladly take it back. Also remember WO parlance for both BB and bronzed finish was the same i.e. ‘bronzed’. Just how precious the WO and regiments would have been about the shade of their ‘bronzed’ finish in wartime is debatable especially when polishing a BB badge can send it a lighter shade eventually. Plus we know there was an order to polish for Yeomanry circa 1914. |

Lue, I am still very happy with the badge, just wondered if I should call it for the CS rifles rather than the DHY?

and that photo or brookies is really clear as to the flat topped badge and the shoulder titles, unambiguous as to the regiment

The real mysteries are the the badges from that die found in GM often with a factory finish. In conclusion there is a picture of the badge in question in wear by a DHY trooper, having seen hundreds of that type of badge over the years they only appear in BB or GM and never a stereotypical chocolate bronzed Yeomanry finish that I’ve seen. We have a photo of the badge, a dark one, in wear by a man with DHIY shoulder titles I’m not sure what more you could ask for aside from one with provenance to a specific man. This type of plumes was certainly worn by them, it’s there in black and white in BROOKIES photo. |

Nice pic but million dollar question with no shoulder titles and GS buttons, what unit? Unless of course the reverse is attributed.
Could be RWY or DHY… |

Very nice and I agree. I’d like to find similar to RWY and also track down the mysterious GM PoW plumes.
