Default 1st CB

Malc , Peter and Dave,
1st CB isn't a badge I'm familiar with, I note Malcolm has KC version, I assume CB would be either Cadets or City Battalion?
Thanks for showing Tony.

Hello Tony,

Yes, 'Cadet Battalion'.

Interesting to note that the buglehorn on the CB badge faces the opposite way to the 'regular' badge:

Hi Tony,

I have the odd KC version, all are looped and the loops are all, in my opinion, too long to be for collar badges, so probably for the side cap ?? I don't know and I am invariably wrong but ???????

I really must get around to photographing and posting my R.B. & K.R.R.C. badges, I have a drawer full ???

Dave.

Hello Dave, nice batch you have there, as Peter has pointed out the bugles are facing the opposite way to the standard KRR badge.
As for collars I wasn't aware the KRR wore them! Of course I could be wrong and often am
Cheers Tony.

Hi Tony,

That's the point ! I actually bought two of them, singularly, described as collar badges knowing that they were not ??

Take care.

Dave.

There you go Ry,

Proof positive that I am losing it ?

I do have the one you have shown, how I missed it I will never know, I do remember you telling me about the beret and we also discussed the opposite facing bugles, I have two boss badges with both.

You thought that the bugle mouthpiece on the left was for the Cadets and when on the right it was the KRRC, you have a good memory, enjoy it because you will end up like me, useless ???

Dave.

If I may go off at a tangent, in the post this morning I recieved some photocopies from the Army Lists 1911-1926 that some one kindly sent me showing the Cadet units of Liverpool /West Lancashire area that were recognised in that period.

In Army Orders August 1918 it lists the St.Annes on Sea Cadet Company Church Lads Brigade and the 4th Liverpool Cadet battalion,Church Lads Brigade both being affiliated to the Kings Royal Rifle Corps.

There were a couple more Church Lads Brigade units from St.Helens whose recognition was noted in Army Orders 452/1921 and who were affiliated to the KRRC.

Does anyone know if any of these units had their own distinctive insignia ?

I recall discussing the opposite facing bugle previously and the possibility / probability that a Red Boss badge with a similar facing bugle could have been attributed to the KRR Cadets. I seem to recall a group image you showed Peter that featured this Boss badge worn by Cadets on a Seal skin Busby, I may be wrong?

Regards to all.

Is this the thread to which you refer?:
