Default Mk II helmet with flash

Apologies if this is the wrong section!

I've been asked to seek the forum's expertise on this helmet on behalf of a collector of a Belgian forum. It looks like a standard WWII British MK II helmet (from its liner), but to me the chinstrap looks like the type you'd expect to see on a Mk III helmet, or one you'd expect to find on a Belgian 1949 model - which is a bit worrying.

Anyway, if anyone could give their opinions on the helmet, what the flash denotes and whether or not it is a genuine British WWII model, that'd be great! I can provide more detailed pictures if needed!

Many thanks,
BP

Shells are marked with manufacturer and year next to one of the chinstrap fixing points. The liners are marked with manufacturer, year and size on either of the black fibre strips. Yours is a later type liner with an x-shaped dome pad, early ones were oval shaped.

Hi Luc,
I understand that - do you think that the helmet which it is attached to is also original? It is easy enough to change a liner after all.
Thanks for your help!

Hi BP - Not sure if you are asking on if the shell is British or possibly Belgium so heer I go....... Looking closely at the crown of the outer shell, Belgian Mk.II clones have a little dimple at the top to accommodate the liner securing bolt. When I look side on at my Belgian Mk. II clone the liner securing bolt sits lower than the top of the helmet shell.
Hope this helps..........

Regards
Gary

Thank you both!

It turns out to be a Belgian M.49 with a replacement liner. The flash too, I can only assume, is fantasy.
