Default GVR Cypher - ID

The ubiquitous GVR cypher rears its head once again. Assistance with ID appreciated.

Dimensions: H = 39mm x W = 30mm.

Shown with Monmouthshire cap badge for scale.

With thanks,

JT

Officers on the Indian Army Unattached List wore something very similar, though I have no idea of exact dimensions or whether it is in fact the same badge. But, perhaps a starting point.

Thanks for that, Peter.

Thanks also to Phil2M, from whom the badge came.

Norfolk Yeomanry, Military Provost Staff Corps, Royal Defence Corps, Barrack Wardens, Uncle Tom Cobley and all, the things are as big a puzzle as the POW plumes if you know what I mean JT. If you get anywhere be sure to let us all know.

Hello

Indian Army Officers on the Unattached list wore a similar cypher except it was GRI I believe.
