Apologies for distracting.
Agreed; NOT Kensingtons. Looks like a crown on the top of the badge.

Hi JT,
No guarantee I know but this badge came with the attached rosette a good few years back so I've kept it as it was, then when the film Warhorse came out you could see the recruiting Sgts were wearing the same type of rosette, again no guarantee of accuracy I know but still food for thought mate,
All the best,
Wilf

Intriguing item, Wilfred. Definitely the correct colours, by all accounts. We've said it time and again: if only these badges could speak!

Thanks for posting.

My initial thought was the Minden rose, but that doesn't tally up with the Dorsetshire badge.

Rgds, Thomas.

Recently purchased rosettes, I'd rather they were recruiters than coronation rosettes, but what are the odds?
Probably coronation, but I suppose there's no real way to tell, I'd want proper provenance to accept these sort of things as recruiting favours.

Must've galled him a bit, not having a complete badge in his cap for a studio portrait.

Noty exactly the same I know but this is a rosette worn by Officers and men of the Leeds Rifles (and other Regiments) on Minden Day The rosette signifies the regiment was awarded the Croix de Guerre for an action during WW1

Hi Just had to check the name of the action which was "Montaigne de Bligny" or Bligny Ridge Where the Comander of the French 5th Army decorated the 8th Batt West Yorks (Leeds Rifles) with the Croix de Guerre avec Palme en Bronze. I have enclosed a Photo of some of the Officers with Charles De Gaul in 1938 wearing the Cockade.
