Marcus, Hopefully I'm off to the Y&L archives tomorrow, I'll see if I can dig anything out.

If there's no written information (which is likely), I may be able to deduce a date from photographs in the Hallamshires files.

I'll get back when I can.

13.08.24. These symbols are not available for issue from the RAOC and arrangements for their supply will be made locally.

Stephen.
Hi Stephen,

Many thanks, I think you may well be correct as I have a 1925 photo of the Leeds Rifles wearing the insignia.

Ivan,

Many thanks, as previously mentioned the earliest dated Leeds Rifles photo I have with the badges being worn is 1925, so the 1924 ACI mentioned sounds very close to the mark.

Default 49 Div roses

Resurrecting an old thread of mine.

Looking at 49 Division's ORBAT I note that by September 1940 it included more than just Yorkshire units. Would any of these units have adopted the WM rose badge?
I refer to:
4th Bn, Lincolnshire Regiment who transferred from 46 Division.
1/5th Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment
1/5th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (until December 1939)
8th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters
2nd Battalion, South Wales Borderers (from 18 December 1939)

Any evidence either way appreciated?

Stephen.
