have had this for some time

its cast and solid

good blades

however just not sure based on the reverse...opinions from experts appreciated

I agree with KLR. There were 3-variants to OSD that I have seen. The intended standard pattern comes to a distinct point top centre of flames. Then there is a type identical in shape to the ORs badge (which is what you have). The third variant appears to be a WW1 expedient that makes use of the grenade of the NF, R Inning Fus and RMF, but overlaid with the RWF circlet.

I would add the caveat that after the 2nd Anglo/Boer War some of the RWF volunteer battalions adopted a gilt/gm badge for the coloured forage cap that had a grenade with similar flame style to that which I described above as a WW1 expedient.
