I have these two versions of the sign, The first printed on linen, the second printed on the usual cotton material, Do any members have other versions and was this sign re used at any point post war by another unit, regards Kevin

Default 20 Armd Bde

It's not a definitive answer but every example of the 20 Armd Bde sign that I have seen (and those that I own) have been embroidered on felt and facing left. The design was not used post War (20 Armd Bde having disbanded in mid-1943). The post-War 20 Armd Bde wore the mailed fist (inherited from 6 Armd Div) on a blue square (D/DASD/8/1/25 (ASD 1a) dated 4 Dec 80)

Default 20 Armd Bde

Here is mine and a mint pair. It strikes me that the very different posture and armour details on both your specimens seem to have been copied from the illustration in Heraldry in War Second Edition 1947.

Thankyou for posting your two. I dont have that book unfortunatly but i have Coles later book Formation badges ww2 ,an edition from the 90s, the image is very similar but not the same. I had a quick look through Waring but unable to find it unless it's an addition.

The printed ones look like the products of a well-known South Coast dealer who used to make and sell many scarce [and not so rare] 'printed' formation signs, and to be fair, as reproductions, cheaply in the 80s and 90s. I can still recall seeing the bundles of the things tied up in rubber bands. The problem is... they are now starting to appear singly (this is one of them) as 'rare', even on 'reputable' dealers' website/auction sites.
