Default Royal Marines Specialisation Badge

Could an RM expert please explain the significance of this badge - worn c 1948 on the left forearm of a Royal Marine's (RMVR) BD blouse:

While we're waiting for an expert to come along I'll start the ball rolling. It is a 2nd class Quarters Armourer badge. The link below shows you some of the variations and if you click on the blue hyperlinks beside the Quarters Armourer title it will take you to several documents detailing the job of a QA.

It is a good site and I use it quite a lot, a lot of the pictures came from the RM Museum and it is updated regularly as well.
